Volunteer

Taking action is an important step in ensuring that our environmental resources are protected for future generations to enjoy. Through the utilization of a volunteer program, HeartLands Conservancy is able to better protect and promote the vast natural resources within the region, leading to an improved quality of life for the residents and visitors of the region. NAVNet (Natural Areas Volunteer Network), the volunteer program of HeartLands Conservancy, uses volunteer staff to provide technical assistance, outreach, and administrative support in a manner which strengthens the capacity and effectiveness of the overall organization.

To ensure that our financial resources are invested in programs, and not overhead, we encourage volunteer efforts in many of our activities. Volunteering allows individuals to contribute expertise in specific areas, while also allowing for professional growth. Volunteers within the organization have the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and attend events, and learn a tremendous amount about the environmental resources of Southwestern Illinois.
